What's New?--Changes to the Website

This page reflects the changes to the website so that users do not have to scour the website to find what, if any, changes have been made since the last time that they visited.  If you are just checking for changes, this is the place to start.  The changes to the website are listed in chronological order with the latest change at the top of the page.

Attention round dancers!!  For the WASCA 2011 Spring Festival there will be 4 cuer/teacher teams--Jim and Bonnie Bahr; Ralph and Joan Collipi; Randy and Marie Preskitt; and added for 2011, Steve and Irene Bradt.  There will be more 2 x 2 sessions and perhaps even additional figure clinics or teaches.  Stay tuned!  Click 52nd WASCA Spring Festival.

Talk about slick--Ed Cragg has built a page on Google where he has entered the map location of every single club that is a member of WASCA.  The link to that page is under WASCA Member Clubs, Where Are They Dancing?.  And, he has even color-coded the clubs by the days that they dance.  Check it out.  Great job, Ed!

For all clubs--please remember that you must renew your WASCA membership annually by June 1.  We are changing the format of all of the WASCA forms.  We have dropped the MS Word format and the plain PDF format.  What is now on the website for several of the forms are new fillable PDF format.  You can fill the form out on your computer and save it with a name that you assign.  Then, you can print that completed form out and submit it with the required fees.  Click How to Join WASCA or renew Membership.

There were some minor changes to the dance list for the Hourly Programmed Round Dances.  Click on WASCA Rounds Friday to see the changes.  There were 2 substitutions in the 2:00-2:50 PM hour in the Terrace Room.

There is a change to the WASCA 51st Spring Festival Program (Revision 10) on Saturday, March 20, 2010.  Go to Festiival Program Schedule and click on Saturday.  The main change is to swap the Student Invitational on Saturday into the Plaza Ballroom B&C and moving the activities that were there into the Plaza Ballroom A.

Looking forward to the WASCA 51st Spring Festival?  So are we!!  For the round dancers check out Festival Round Dance Programs for both the Hourly Round Dance Program and the 2 x 2 Round Dance Program.  These will also be published in the March Calls 'n' Cues and in the WASCA Festival Program itself.  If there are last minute changes to either of the round dance programs before the Festival, the changes will be posted here.

Be sure to look at a new section under WASCA Organization regarding the WASCA Morton-Hunter Caller-Cuer Scholarship Program.  New callers and cuers (with less than 3 years experience are encouraged to apply for this program.  The application and demonstration material must be submitted by June 1, 2010.

New feature!!  If you have not registered for the upcoming 2010 WASCA Spring Festival you can download a fillable PDF Form that can be filled out on your computer.  The Microsoft Word and old PDF forms have been replaced with this form.  All that you need is Adobe Reader.  Click Festival Registration and Housing Reservation Form  for instructions on how to use the form and a link to download the form itself.  Click Adobe Reader to download the free Adobe PDF Reader.  You do not have to download the McAfee Security Scan.  If you do not want it, simply uncheck the box.

Check out the Interesting Links under City, State, and Regional (Inter-State) Organizations for a new link to Squaredancers.org.  They are a reciprocating organization with WASCA--we crosslink between our websites.  If you are traveling to the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area they are a source of current information about who is dancing and where, both squares and rounds.

Saturday, March 14 is the beginning of a new series of square dance classes especially for seniors.  The classes will be held on Saturdays  from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon.  Location is the beautiful Herndon Senior Center facility at 873 Grace St., Herndon, Virginia.  Pete Kasper is the caller.

For all WASCA Board members and delegates...we have changed the building number for meetings to be held at Ryderwood Senior Centers from 3160 to 3150.  The building at 3150 is the correct building.

Uploaded revised WASCA Club Membership form in both Microsoft Word format and PDF format.  "Number of Couples" on form was changed to "Number of Members" to be more accurate.  Also, "Months Danced" was added for those clubs that go dark over some period (usually summer).

The Word document may be saved to your computer, filled in on your computer, saved as a completed document, and printed off to be submitted along with the correct payment.  The PDF document may be saved, printed off, filled in legibly and submitted along with the correct payment.  Click on How to Join WASCA or Renew Membership.  Or click on WASCA Forms.

Changes to Square Dance Lessons and Workshops...  Rivermont Ramblers dropped the Beginning level class that they were considering.

They added an ALPs session on November 7 and 8.  They also added a DBD workshop starting Tuesday, October 7 and continuing each Tuesday until the last class on November 4.

****New schedules have been posted for all lesson types--Square Dance Annual, Square Dance Workshops, Round Dance, Clogging, and Advanced Learning Program (ALP) sessions.  There are no BLAST sessions currently scheduled.  Click on Lessons and Demos to reach the sections for each dance type with a link to the current schedules.

If you want to get on your feet as soon as possible, then be sure to check out the ALPS session that is coming up on September 19th and 20th.  This will get you on the floor at a Basic level in a Friday evening (7:00-9:45 pm) followed by an all-day session on Saturday (10 am - 9 pm) in Prince Frederick, MD with the Aqua Squares.  Click on ALP session.

Uploaded a new WASCA Clubs Alpha List.  There are numerous changes that will affect the WASCA Clubs Days Danced tables.  The Alpha List is the original source document and in all cases of differing information, the Alpha List should always be considered correct.  Appropriate changes to the WASCA Clubs Days Danced tables will be made over the next few days.
