Accelerated Learning Program (ALP)--What are they?
An "ALP" program is a longer version of the BLAST program. The BLAST program will cover probably 75 to 85 percent of the Mainstream calls in one day or less if the session is less than 8 hours. The dancers will be able to use those calls and dance Mainstream dances for the afternoon.
An Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) session spreads that BLAST learning experience out over a 1 1/2 to 3 day time frame and will introduce 100 percent of the calls of the level being taught. It also provides a much richer experience in terms of being able to put those calls to use, with much more square dancing over the 1 1/2 to 3 days.
Like the BLAST sessions, ALP may be conducted for any of the square dance levels, Mainstream, Plus, Advanced or Challenge. Anyone can attend a Mainstream ALP session and be square dancing before it is over with. For the higher level ALP session, the dancer should be familiar with the preceding square dance leve. For example, a dancer looking to take a Plus ALP session should be able to dance at the Mainstream level, and so on.
